Snapshots from Science Olympiad 2025-2026

This past season, our team worked hard throughout the school year to place 2nd at our state tournament, making a lot of memories along the way. Click into each event below to see the food, card games, awards ceremonies, and more that made up our 2025-26 journey.

11.1.25 — Rickards

Satellite Invitational

We camped out in the Science Department of Uni High School to participate in our first competition of the year, a satellite (online) invitational.

11.15.25 — Irvine Scrimmage

Portola High School

On a rainy day in November, Irvine high school teams (plus Beckman) went to Portola High School to compete in a casual scrimmage.

11.28.25 — Thanksgiving Bonding

Team Bonding

Our first Science Olympiad bonding involved a delicious potluck, music and games, and some interesting creative interpretations of how to decorate a cookie.

12.13.25 — Great Oak Invitational

Temecula, CA

The first in-person invitational we went to was hosted by Great Oak High School in Temecula, complete with a surprise Super Smash Bros tournament.

1.17.26 — USC Invitational

University of Southern California

We went to the biggest in-person invitational in the US, going against some of the best teams in SoCal and placing 6th overall.

2.2.26 — Stanford

Travel Invitational

Travel invitationals are the highlight of the season for many of us. We flew up to NorCal to participate in the Stanford Invitational, followed by sightseeing in San Francisco.

2.14.26 — Regionals

Orange County Regional Tournament

In order to qualify for the State Tournament, we needed to place at least 5th at the Orange County Regional Tournament… we ended up placing 2nd!

4.11.26 — States

SoCal State Tournament

The SoCal State Tournament was our last competition of the year, the culmination of a whole season of hard work. We placed 2nd overall!

6.2.26 — Banquet

Season Send-Off

To close off the season, we gathered together for a final banquet, anointing people with superlatives and sending off our seniors.

Though we were unable to attend an in-person regional competition, we participated in the Virtual Sponge Bowl and ultimately won the competition!
